HORTICULTURE

           

The Award of Horticulture Excellence will be awarded to the named exhibit of fresh plant material judged finest in
            the Horticulture division.  Only one (1) to be offered.  All general requirements must be met and be named.

The Horticulture Sweepstakes Award will be awarded in Horticulture for the highest total of points for red and blue
            ribbons.

“Best of Show” ($5.00) presented by Worth County Fair Board, if deserved. Must be grown and/or cared for by youth themselves. Presented by youth also.

DIVISION III—ARTISTIC DESIGN

Best of Show/The Marj Pangburn Award ($15.00) is awarded by the judges.

The Award of Design Excellence is awarded by the judges.
Artistic Sweepstakes Award will be awarded in the Artistic design by the highest total of points for blue and red ribbons.

 

Designs are judged by scale of points for all classes in Design as follows:

 The public will be voting on their favorite design by ballot which will end at 9:00 pm Friday night. The winner will be announced Saturday, at 9:00 a.m. This award will be “The People’s Choice Award”.

SECTION A:  TRI-COLOR

           

            All plant material must be fresh.  Coloring or treating fresh plant material is never allowed.  Plant material need not have been grown by designer.  Accessories permitted.  A TRI-COLOR Award is offered in the class if there is a minimum of four entries in each of three classes.

           Class 1 Childhood

           Class 2 Romance
           Class 3 Golden years (Monochromatic in a color other than hues, tints, & shades of green,
            but green foliage is allowed)
 

SECTION B: AWARD OF DISTINCTION 

           

            All plant material must be dried. The Award of Distinction is offered in the following class if there is a minimum of
            four entries in each of three classes. Accessories permitted.

SECTION C: DESIGNER’S CHOICE 

           

Exhibitor has complete freedom to choose plant material and other components to use in these classes.  All general rules, however, must be met.  A Designer’s Choice Award is offered in the following classes if there is a minimum of four entries in each of three classes.

 

            Class 1   Reaching Out (stretch design)

            Class 2   Reflective Light (reflective design)

            Class 3   Secret Garden (underwater design)

 

SECTION D: TABLE ARTISTRY

 

                       Classes must consist of  fresh and or dried plant material.  Construction, accessories, backgrounds and
            underlays are permitted.  The Table Artistry Award is offered in the following classes if there is a minimum of four entries
            in each of three classes.  (Table must be supplied by exhibitor)

 

Class 1   Grandma's Attic (staged on a card table for 4 with a lace tablecloth)

            Class 2   Christmas gatherings (staged on a 2'x4' table -- buffet for 4)

            Class 3   Grandpa's tool shed (staged on tray)

 

SECTION E: PETITE DIVISION 

 

Material used is of designer’s choice (fresh and/or dried).  Dimensions are listed under each category and refer to width, height, and depth.  Petite Award may be given if there are four exhibits in each class.

            SECTION F:  VIGNETTE (page 213 in the Flower Show Handbook)

 

            This is a functional section of a room. The designer may use fresh and/or dried plant material. The vignette must include a floral design but may also include container grown plats and/or other plant material. The exhibit area will be 4' x 4'.
